  1. Agreed! In one sentence here's what's wrong with it: They are selling it at a premium price, and it is NOT a premium product. I might have bought one at a price point of $40.00, but I decided to upgrade my old Google Chromecast dongle with the ONN 4K Pro. Apple TV 4K and nvidia Shield are the true premium products: When you buy one of these, you get what you pay for. To put it bluntly, at $100, the Google 4K Streamer is a rip-off.

  2. This was posted two days ago so I can only assume the box was recently purchased. The Google streamer is now selling for $85 all most retailers – still over-priced but easier to handle. The new Onn 4k Plus device with an upgraded processor and GPU for $30 is a great alternative. But the Google box has 4GB of RAM compared to the 2GB in the Onn Plus. Last year's Onn Pro box is down to $45 (from $50) at Walmart with 3GB RAM (but older processor and GPU). I've got the Plus and it's a great little box – I decided that the upgrade in hardware was worth the lower RAM. It's fast and almost lag-free (DTV is a memory hog and will lag occasionally). I've also got the Onn streamer stick and it's not great with only 1.5GB RAM. It's over-priced at the discounted $15 and I wouldn't recommend it (unless you've got an old Fire Stick or Roku). Even then, go with the other Onn box from last year for $20. Two apps you need to install on any Android TV box – Projectivy launcher and TVQuickactions (remote button re-mapper).

  3. My Chromecast with Google TV finally died last year, so I replaced it with this Google TV Streamer 4K. I like the Gigabit Ethernet port on this one, which works great connected to my UniFi Cloud Gateway Max. And the USB-C Hub that I used with the Chromecast works really nice with this one to watch videos and to backup my TiviMate on flash drives. The Plex client from Google Playstore works well with the Plex server on my MBP. I use the Chromecast remote paired to the Google TV Streamer as a spare.

  4. This thing is the shield killer btw. You're insane. It's the best STB. How would you even know it flopped? $99 is a bargain for a device that beats the $150 shield. Also it's often $80

  5. I disagree. I absolutely love mine. Love, love, love the Google Home Integration (the most). I didn't mind the price tag – course I have always been a big Shield fan, so the price didn't offend me
