I had to laugh after you said 'hey roku.' It turned my Roku on trying to take me to YouTube!!
The voice active remote is helpful if you have dexterity issues (Parkinson's, arthritis, …)
My pro remote lasted less then 60 days. I have three Roku‘s the standard remotes work all the time.
How long does the charge last once it's been charged?
Who can possibly like to replace the physical batteries rather than having the rechargeable remote?
Cheaper possible option is from returned new broken Roku TV's.
I got mine for five bucks off of eBay. Branding didn't match, so I surprised I didn't have to, pair it. Its functionality is equivalent to the basic Roku Voice Remote. I had to get rechargeable (NiMH) batteries, since it goes through the non-rechargeable ones so fast. No need to get the more expensive lithium-based rechargeable batteries.
What I love most about it is, that its RF based not IR based. So so most solid objects don't interrupt the connection entry level IR based Roku remotes. The additional features, such as voice control, I only use occasionally. I use my IR based Roku remote occasionally just to see how much crappier it is in comparison.
I sure wish they would let me assign the shortcut buttons. I expect Roku gets paid for the buttons, otherwise why not?
I bought two pro remotes a few months ago but haven't unboxed them yet. I actually forgot all about them until this video.
My standard Roku remote eats up batteries like crazy. I have to take the batteries out when I’m not using the remote.
