How to Reset Samsung TV Remote | Solar / New Remote

Is your Samsung TV remote not responding? Don’t worry—I’ll walk you through how to reset your Samsung TV remote, whether it’s a solar-powered model, a newer version, or even an older one. In this step-by-step guide, I’ll show you how to perform a soft reset, hard reset, and even how to unpair and re-pair your remote with your TV.

🔹 Soft Reset: If your remote is acting up, a quick soft reset might be all you need. Simply press and hold the ‘Return’ and ‘Play/Pause’ buttons until you see a flashing red light. This signals that your remote is resetting and should be back in sync with your TV in no time.

🔹 Unpair & Re-Pair: Need to disconnect your remote? Hold down the ‘Return’ and ‘Play/Pause’ buttons until you see a confirmation on your TV screen. To re-pair, just press any button, and your TV will detect the remote automatically!

🔹 Hard Reset (Factory Reset): If a soft reset doesn’t fix the issue, try a hard reset by holding ‘Return’ and ‘Multi-View’ together. Keep an eye on your TV and remote for confirmation that the reset is complete.

🔹 For Older Samsung Remotes: If your remote doesn’t have Bluetooth, simply remove the batteries, hold the power button for a few seconds to drain any residual charge, and then reinsert the batteries. This refreshes the remote and often fixes common issues.

  1. Hi. My up button does not work on my remote. I contacted Samsung and they have send me a new remote. This remote has the same issue. That makes me think that the problem is not the remote but the TV itself. Any suggestion what I can do?
    Cheers

  2. You show the image of the 2 remotes yet you ONLY address the one with the batteries and not yhe rechargeable one which is the one we have issues with. It's solar and stopped working even though it's charged

  3. I had my last Samsung flat screen for 14 years. I bought a larger more high tech version less than 2 years ago. Recently the right scroll on the solar remote stopped working. I contacted Samsung support. I recharged with the USB-C cable. I rebooted the remote and the tv. I unpaired and paired the remote. Nothing changed. They checked the warranty (out of warranty). So they directed me to the replacement parts page. $100 (on sale) for a new remote. I told them planned obsolescence must be very profitable at Samsung. They said something about "wear and tear". I ended the chat. Since I might keep this TV another decade or so, they must figure $100 every 18 months for a new remote will tide them over.

  4. I'll try this but I can promise that I have bought my last Samsung product for the rest of my life. TV is four years old and acting up, kitchen appliances all dying after 5 years. Garbage, all of it.
