  1. I own them both and the Onn 4K Pro. The Apple TV 4K is the best because it is the fastest and you do not have to deal with annoying ads. It has the most options for customization. If you have a full blown home theater system, with all of the options the Apple TV has, you can customize it as you see fit. Some people do not want an external streaming device box that will usually have to be located next to the TV for optimum performance. Other people don't mind that at all, then get the Apple TV box. Other people want the streaming device to not be seen, they want it hidden behind the TV, then you might prefer the Roku streaming stick. Some people want the most common apps like Netflix, Disney+, Apple TV+, and Amazon Prime Video to be available on the remote control, so they can be launched just by pressing a button on the remote control, then the Roku is a better choice for you. Keep in mind that the Roku remote control has a cheap plastic feel to it compared to the Apple TV 4K remote control. The Apple TV 4K has much nicer screensavers and even a Snoopy screensaver all available for no extra cost. I started out with the first generation Apple TV 4K that was released 9-12-2017. I just upgraded to the latest generation of the Apple TV 4K because I have found both the ONN device and the Roku device both to be somewhat disappointing. While the Roku device and the ONN device can get the job done, everything about them is not as good as the Apple TV 4K, which is the better choice if you can afford it.

  2. I have 2 RoKu TV and I have iPhones and Apple Watch and more. But I didn’t want the Apple TV cause you will have to use Apple for all of it and on RoKu I can still use Apple on the TV and Google on the TV Good RoKu. One day you may want to stop using your iPhone and you can use your TV that good then.

  3. I bought a Fire TV a few years ago, and soon decided thar I HATE the interface. The whole thing is loaded down with ads, other assorted clutter, and bloatware. I disconnected it from the internet to make it into a "dumb" TV, and now have an Apple TV 4K and a Roku Ultra connected to it. I use them both, but prefer Apple TV. I'm an Apple user anyway, and I love that this device is fast and has no ads. I prefer it over Roku for live baseball. I think the picture quality is better.

I have Roku for some stuff that's not on Apple TV. Despite the presence of ads, it is nowhere near as annoying as Fire TV. But I don't need the suggestions for what to watch, at least I can hide some of it. I would recommend Roku to new cord cutters due to lower cost to buy the device, and ease of setup and use. The Ultra is top of the line, but I hear rhe new sticks they just released are pretty good and are less expensive.

Apple TV devices do last long. I have an older one from 2015 that is currently up in my bedroom. It still works and still updates. It runs a bit slower than the newest 4K one in my living room, but it still does the job very well.

  4. I own both Apple TV 4K and Roku Ultra. Both are good but the one that's giving me the most trouble is Apple TV 4K. Apple was last year's latest model. It keeps turning up the volume of the Samsung Smart TV in which you have to unplugged the Apple TV and turn it back on to reset. Also, it keeps freezing the channels if you want to switch to another channel on my Spectrum App. Had to right click the side of the remote and swipe up to clear and go back to Spectrum App to reset. Very annoying. Roku Ultra has no problem with any of this with Spectrum App. The interface of the Apple TV is nice but it has those two glitches that's very annoying and it's not going away. The older Apple TV from 6 years ago in my bedroom is trouble free, not so with the new models from Apple.

  5. I’ve had nothing but Rokus since the beginning and never had any major issues with them, no matter what type of internet connection I had. Over the last year, with my streaming stick I have had what seemed like some type of “ hack” where the interface didn’t recognize my remote at all and did its own thing for about 2 hours and now most recently I find I am plowing through decent brand batteries and the remote just becomes non responsive. I’ve tried to troubleshoot and find a solution because I love the platform but I’m bothered that I keep spending on a product and the company is ignoring and or not addressing a real issue with the remote software…I should not have to rely on a phone as a remote to operate a product that comes with a remote…I don’t want to “jumpy ship” but it feels like Roku is forcing my hand😢
