what even is lossless?
I understand people wanting FLAC, but the idea you need 24 bit etc when listening to home audio on any setup, let alone through yer TV's sound bar is a ludicrous. After all, these people are happy to have compressed movies, whether that is 4k directly off a bluray at around 100gig, or streamed from Apple at around perhaps 5gig.
Great walk through. To be honest I need to start using my Apple TV more for music especially using Apple Music. Usually pottering about at home getting ready etc. I just start music on my phone and then shove it to one of my HomePods. But I think a more efficient way would be to shove (read as AirPlay, lol) to my Apple TV and then send to the HomePod wherever I am maybe. Although my flat is pretty open plan so just the main one would do.
If you want to have Subwoofer on for Stereo on a AV Receiver you have to put on LFE +Main settings
I have has Apple Music for 3+ years. My biggest complaint is the app on my ATV4K. It is very unstable and will just stop or freezes. So bad that at times I have considered dropping it but I really like the interface and Apple’s spacial music mixes.
Direct needs a .1 to engage the sub/subs. Two channel in direct or through give you just that. If you enable subs you will be double bassing the subs and the fronts

AppleTV is my entertainment hub and I love it. I’ve gone right off spotify when they started splicing AI generated covers of tracks I know into my normal music, totally hate that. I’ve switched to Amazon Music and particularly like the lyrics.. I do still have iTunes Match content but my days of ripping and matching cds are over lol and I’ll probably get rid of that. I find the free account Spotify especially with its AI crap to be extremely annoying.
