  1. So one of the things that I found annoying was that when sound check was turned off if a track wasn’t in atmos it sound louder and when a atmos track played it was much lower had to turn up the volume but once a lossless track plays after an atmos track it would sound too loud. So I found out I can turn on sound check and it makes atmos sound louder so basically it levels it to a lossless track. This is only for Apple TV when using a receiver or soundbar

  2. I am not an Apple hardware user, but ended up with Apple Music, since I got a LG oled. I did toggle between Tidal and Apple. But Tidal made the UI on their TV app video oriented, so you have to search for new albums. Stupid mistake.

On thing that is annoying, and it might not be Apple but me using an older Onkyo atmos receiver, is that if automatic Atmos is in on, I often dont get sound when music shift between surround and stereo.

  3. I still don’t understand why the Apple TV doesn’t output in hi res audio. Apple Music has it and an hdmi can easily handle it. Even the the device itself is overly powerful enough too.

  4. BEST SOUND WITH APPLE MUSIC OR YOUTUBE APPLE TV 4K: Instead of playing the music via HDMI cable through the TV set (or soundbar), it is better to have a streamer on the same system. If this is connected via LAN cable to the same router or the same Netswitch as the AppleTV, you can click on the streamer listed there in the AppleTV settings under AUDIO. This sounds much better than via the HDMI cable, even if the sound from the TV is connected to a good external DAC or AV receiver. Especially if the streamer has a good integrated DAC.

  5. DISADVANTAGE OF THE APPLE TV: If it is connected to an older TV set via HDMI, you cannot click on Lossless/24 bit in the settings because this button is then missing. So only Lossless-16Bit works. Unfortunately, this is the case with my LOEWE CONNECT TV from 2015. This also means I can't listen to 24-bit lossless AppleMusic when I send the AppleTV sound via Ethernet cable from the AppleTV to the streamer. What a pity.

  6. Apple Music sounds better than even tidal on Apple TV. It gets full access to apple tv’s dynamic range. So for high end set ups. It’s a day and night difference. Like for me on my Lexicon RV-9 with Dirac. It’s a 7.4 calibrated system . With high end speakers and subs. I’ve always been curious what tidal really sounds like (would need to buy a Nvidia streaming box) where tidal gets full access to the dynamic range. The problem isn’t the platforms. It’s apple shady biz practice. Disabling apps from using apples full hardware/software advantages.
