  1. I'm still trying to understand how it is legal for them to change the terms of service after the initial purchase? Let alone years later. I have multiple lg c series oleds from various generations as far back as the cx series. I paid a lot of money for them when they were released and now it feels like I'm being extorted if I want to use the features I paid for. If I would have realised what was happening I never would have clicked that update button. Now they are all disconnected from the internet and all streaming is routed through my pc.

  2. Today my Roku TV had a popup that required me to agree to their new ACR policy. There was no option to disagree. It prevented me from using HDMI inputs or any TV app unless I agreed. Completely bricked.

After doing some research I was able to find that the only way to opt out of this was to factory reset my TV and completely disconnect it from the internet entirely. Now if I want to watch streaming services or youtube I have to do it through my Apple TV instead of natively through the UI

  3. Im a cheap bastard, and my living room and master bedroom tvs are 50 inch 1080p dumb tvs that i got for literally nothing. I got one from Facebook marketplace, and the other from a friend whose parents were throwing it away, and i just got onn android tv boxes and put adblocking shit through them and it works great. It may not be 4k but for the price of Free.99 i cant complain

  4. Every one in the world should watch this video. I honestly didn’t know this was a thing until now!

Maybe because my TV is an older TV, but if I went out to buy one I’d need to find one that can be used offline.

  5. There have been a few in the comment section defending the practice, that this is only fingerprints and not full data, etc. etc. But the industry is acknowledging these screenshots are being linked to the logged in accounts. And we really don't know if all of them are merely sending "fingerprints" as opposed to full images. If the industry is so certain they are being responsible with our data, prove it. Also re: the reference to India – up until LG's acquisition of the company, Alphonse.TV was a company based in India.
