Should you buy the new Roku Streaming Stick Plus? I tested it to find out and responded to CNET’s big complaints. This $40 budget device replaces the Roku Express 4K Plus and supports 4K and HDR. In this review, I walk through setup, performance, app load times, and how it compares to Roku’s other devices including the Ultra and Streaming Stick 4K.

I bought this and I have two comments. First. All my other Rokus have upgraded to 14.6. Not this one. Second , I have been working with tablo. There is an incompatibility with the tablo tuners and this device. So it makes the tablo useless. This has stumped Roku support. Tablo works perfectly with my ultra and all my Android sticks. So bottom line I now exclusively use Onn devices. Always reliable and no obnoxious ads.
Funny how you and the C-net person had a very different experience. I always try products out for myself instead of listening to some one's opinion. Thanks for all you do.
I believe the reason for that slight delay in app loading is that sometimes Roku offloads apps instead of directly storing them on the device. It only happens now and then in my experience.
I’ve been very disappointed in Roku devices lately. Between mine and those of friends & family, I’ve seen Netflix crash regularly on 4 of them and bogged-down remote response (3-5 seconds) on 3 of them. They were never as stable or snappy as my living room’s Apple TV, but were at least acceptable for secondary TVs. If a future update doesn’t fix mine soon, I’ll switch to watching on a tablet in those rooms.

Love my Roku ultra! It is faster and more reliable than any of the other Roku boxes, sticks or TVs wI have had over the years. I also have a streaming stick 4K plus That is pretty good too.
