When my TV remote stopped working, I could’ve just replaced the battery. Instead, I designed and built my own universal smart remote — complete with 3D printed buttons, a custom PCB, and full Home Assistant integration. Was it a massive overreaction? Absolutely. But now it controls my whole smart home.

Hey, I’ve noticed you use Home Assistant a lot and it looks really cool. I’ve been thinking of setting it up myself but honestly not sure where to start. Could you maybe share what hardware is needed and how to set it up? A beginner’s guide would be awesome!
"universal" remote but no IR… L
no IR support?
dose anyone know what CAD he uses?
if this could emulate the chrome cast remote (Bluetooth), it would be an awesome replacement and integration to Home Assistant.
If there is anyway @thestockpot-AU can help me build a 3-button remote for my son who has autism, I’d be grateful. I don’t know that I have the skills needed to complete this, but I do think it would be a cool video of you could do that….. please message me if you see this and are willing to help.

Consider adding a speaker and buzzer to allow for a "page" function that makes the remote ring and vibrate to help find it when it's lost.
I got a Denon receiver and frequently switch inputs on that thing. Can this remote handle that input?
