Google lets you add multiple streaming services that you already have to their live tv interface. Roku doesnt. You still have to buy subscriptions to add them to roku.
Interesting. I think the control that comes with my ONN boxes is much superior to that Google control that you’re showing.
I have a Google TV box, a Roku, and a fire stick connected to each of my TVs. For the most part, I think I prefer the Roku interface, but I also like the Google TV interface. I don’t like the fact that the Google TV interface is as busy as it is, but it does have things that I like about it. So I’m still trying to decide.
If you like Roku, use a streaming box, Roku built into TVs ruin TVS with updates, happened to me on 2 different TVS
Google SUCKS
Maybe for some people the choice would be determined on which streaming box offers the most local channels because that’s definitely a plus !!!!!!!!
Google (Smart TVs) are far more advanced than Roku. Roku lack the "can do" compared to Google TV platform. You can talk into the remote and ask for the forecast and it will talk to you and lay it out on the screen. You can even ask it to tell you a dad joke and go as far as helping you with your homework… You can ask who is George Washington and it will tell you wo and have the option to click on a link and it will bring up the full Wiki on him . There is nothing difficult with navigation at all. Once you customize and learn the platform you will never want to go back to Roku again. Also, Roku has something similar to app lock where it won't allow certain apps on its platform. They even banned YouTube and YouTube TV from being downloaded to its platform at one time. If there is an app available out there, Google has it.The only con is that Google TVs are more expensive than Roku TVs. Thats why Roku TVs are more in quantities on the shelves at Wal-Mart or any other retailer.
I bought a Roku TV because it was cheap, I bought the new onn 4k box and use it 100% of the time, I need the open source to add APK's if I want.
I like the recommendations from Google TV, but that’s where it stops. Google TV on my Sony has been very buggy and laggy. Also, there is one channel that is not available, but is available on Roku. Roku has been far more stable for me, and I’ve been using it for many years. That’s why I have the Roku Ultra attached to my Sony Google TV, and it’s my default player.
