I have three 4k max firesticks that I am beginning to replace with Xiaomi 3rd gen boxes. Google tv is less restricted than fire tv.

I have both and prefer Google TV (using an Onn box). I like their apps-only mode which gives a clean uncluttered layout like Apple TV. The only downside is that Google Assistant is disabled in the apps-only mode, but I hope that's something they can change by software.
